S.K. Mohiddin: Senior Vice-President, Contracts and Materials Management, Greenko Group

Senior Vice-President, Contracts and Materials Management, Greenko Group

S.K. Mohiddin brings to the table diverse professional experience of over 25 years with large corporate houses in the conventional and renewable energy spaces. He has led the sourcing and contract management functions for both local and global procurement, including finalisation of high-value contracts for packages such as boilers, turbines and generators; balance of plant; wind turbine generators; engineering and manufacturing; and other major civil/construction packages for large projects.

Mohiddin specialises in contracts, material management and supply chain and distribution. His forte is developing innovative solutions for supply chain and distribution performance, with a direct positive influence on the top line and bottom line of a company.

In his current role as senior vice-president, contracts and material management (CMM), with the Greenko Group, his strategic focus is on bringing long-term cost-effective sourcing solutions for all renewable energy projects. He supports a portfolio of around 1 GW of renewable generation capacity at Greenko. His current challenge, he says, is to build a strong vendor base and a versatile CMM team that has the techno-commercial capability to ensure reliable and quality supply chain productivity to meet the planned capacity of 3 GW over the next three years.

Commenting on the growing share of renewables in the sector, he says, “The unserved demand for electricity in many states, concerns with respect to energy security and the carbon footprint and supportive government policies motivate entrepreneurs and investors to view the renewable energy sector as remunerative in the long term. On the other hand, the competition in the energy space presents a real challenge to IPPs like Greenko. In such a scenario, the CMM team can take centre stage and play a vital role in commercial re-engineering and building mutual trust with our partners/vendors to ensure successful completion of a project with cost economy.”

Mohiddin is a mechanical engineer from Osmania University, Hyderabad, and also holds a postgraduate degree in material management. He has a pace-setting management style and motivates his team by encouraging healthy discussion at the workplace.

On the personal front, Mohiddin says he enjoys playing shuttle and reading. He lives in Hyderabad with his wife and two children. His elder daughter is a doctor and the younger one is in Class 12.
