Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO) is planning to procure round-the-clock power in the range of 632-672 MW for the period February-May 2017. The price of procured power will be up to Rs 4 per unit. The Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission has approved TANGEDCO’s plans. Initially, TANGEDCO had planned to procure 350 MW round-the-clock power and short-term 500 MW peak power with a ceiling rate of Rs 4 per kWh during the same period. However, these plans were dropped as a higher price was quoted during the procurement.
