Telangana, Assam and Tamil Nadu sign MoUs withMoP under UDAY

The states of Telangana, Assam and Tamil Nadu have signed tripartite MoUs with their respective discoms and the Ministry of Power (MoP) under the Ujwal Discom Assurance Yojana (UDAY). The three states are likely to witness overall net benefits of Rs 61.16 billion, Rs 16.63 billion and Rs 110 billion respectively, on account of savings in interest cost, reduction in aggregate technical and commercial losses, intervention in energy efficiency, among other things. With this, 21 states and union territories have joined UDAY. In a separate development, the MoP has launched the UDAY web portal and mobile application for tracking and monitoring the discoms’ progress on the financial and operational fronts. Tamil Nadu has also joined the 24×7 Power for All initiative. With this, all states except Uttar Pradesh have become a part of this initiative.
