The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has issued the draft National Electricity Plan for transmission. The plan includes a review of the Twelfth Plan period (2012-17), a detailed plan for 2017-22 and a perspective plan for 2022-36 for transmission and renewable energy integration, including assessment of demand, generation capacity and transmission capacity requirement. To this end, the CEA has estimated an investment of Rs 2.6 trillion by 2022. It has invited comments and suggestions on the draft plan by February 11, 2017.
