The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has released a staff paper on the introduction of electricity storage systems in India. The paper states the possible methods for using storage systems, as well as operational and recovery aspects of storage facilities in order to balance the grid with large-scale integration of intermittent renewable energy sources. It also covers issues such as grid-level applications of electricity storage systems, controlling intermittent generation from renewable sources and recovery of electricity storage services. The CERC has invited comments and suggestions on the paper by March 6, 2017.
