The MoP has initiated a safety audit of all coal blocks owned by CIL following the accident at Eastern Coalfields Limited’s (a subsidiary of CIL) Lal Matia opencast mine at Godda in Jharkhand. The audit will be carried out by the Directorate General of Mines Safety along with experts from the Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research.
