Fund allocation to MoP increases in Union Budget 2017-18

The central government has allocated funds worth Rs 138.81 billion to the MoP under the Union Budget 2017-18, an increase of 32.5 per cent over Rs 104.76 billion (revised) allocated during 2016-17. The allocations for the central sector schemes stood at Rs 122.78 billion, marking an increase of 31.2 per cent over Rs 93.58 billion in the previous year. Of these, the DeendayalUpadhyaya Gram JyotiYojana (DDUGJY) has been allocated Rs 48.14 billion (an increase of 43.7 per cent over the previous year) and the Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS) has been allocated Rs 58.21 billion (an increase of 28.67 per cent over the previous year). In addition to the funds allocated to the MoP, funds worth Rs 626 billion have been allocated for public enterprises in the power sector, a decline of 7.3 per cent over Rs 675.32 billion in the previous year.
