India and Nepal plan cross-border transmission projects

The Indian and Nepalese governments are planning to build new cross-border transmission projects to trade power from upcoming hydroelectric projects (HEPs) in Nepal. The new transmission projects under consideration include the Butwal (Nepal)-Gorakhpur (India) line, the Lumki (Nepal) Bareilly (India) line and new 400 kV substations at Dhalkebar, Butwal and Hetauda in Nepal.
