GE and Gama Energy sign agreement for first digital power plant in Turkey

Turkish company Gama Energy and General Electric (GE) have signed an agreement for operating the first digital power plant in Turkey. It is for the first time that industrial cloud software applications will be used in a power plant in the country. GE will install its advanced digital solutions, and asset performance management (APM) and operations optimisation (OO) solutions using Predix, the operating system for industrial internet, at Gama Energy’s 840 MW Anadolu natural gas combined cycle power plant (CCPP) in Kirikkale. These solutions are likely to be installed by March 2017. GE’s APM solution will improve both efficiency as well as productivity through the early detection of outages at power plants currently using this solution, which will help save up to $3 million annually.
