NTC and NGCP (Philippines) to review concession agreement

Philippines’ government-owned National Transmission Corporation is likely to review the government’s concession agreement with the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), in a bid to create a stronger and smarter power grid and generate additional earnings for the government. NGCP operates the country’s transmission network under a 25-year concession agreement signed in 2009, under which it obtained the franchise to operate, maintain and manage the network, as well as engage in the business of transmitting electricity through a high-voltage backbone system or interconnected transmission lines. The review will determine if the concession agreement has been serving its purpose and also how it can further help the government and the public.
