Siemens and Marubeni Corporation secure $550-million equipment supply contract in Thailand

State-owned utility Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand has awarded a $550 million contract to Siemens and its consortium partner, Marubeni Corporation, for the supply of equipment for the 1,200 MW CCPP in South Bangkok. The power plant will have two units in a single-shaft configuration and two H-class gas turbines. It is expected to power 1.5 million households and is scheduled for commissioning in 2019. Siemens will deliver two gas turbines, two generators, two steam turbines along with two heat recovery steam generators engineered by NEM, and a control system. Marubeni Corporation will be responsible for civil and erection works, cooling towers, high voltage gas-insulated switchyard and some balance-of-plant equipment.
