VA Tech WABAG, the Indian multinational water technology company which has demonstrated its expertise in water recycle and reuse over the past 15 years, is looking to tap the water reuse potential in the power sector. In India, WABAG has executed more than 20 industrial water recycle and reuse projects, recycling over 300 mld of water. For the power sector, a reference project has been a treatment plant at NTPC, Badarpur. The plant, with a capacity of 2.4 mld, was set up by WABAG in 2014 to treat contaminated surface water and provide it as process water for the power plant. Another plant, of 40 mld capacity, was earlier executed by WABAG at Baotou, Inner Mongolia, to treat wastewater up to the tertiary level using patented technology. The company’s solutions are in line with recent government notifications issued and the importance of water for thermal plants.
