GE to provide gas turbines at 650 MW Huadian Tianjin Junliangcheng VI CCPP in China

China-based Harbin Electric Corporation has awarded a contract to General Electric (GE) for providing gas turbines for the 650 MW Huadian Tianjin Junliangcheng VI gas combined-cycle power plant (CCPP). The 9HA gas turbine, credited to be GE’s largest and most efficient turbine, will be installed for the first time in China. The Huadian Tianjin Junliangcheng VI plant is currently a coal-fired power station. Its conversion to a CCPP will bring a combined-cycle efficiency of over 62 per cent, reduce SOx emissions by up to 1,194 tonnes, NOx emissions by up to 500 tonnes and CO2 emissions by more than 2 million tonnes per year. The plant will provide heat supply up to 14.5 million square metres for the city centre and outer regions of Tianjin.
