The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has notified the draft order for the determination of forbearance and floor prices of renewable energy certificates (RECs) for the control period starting April 1, 2017. The commission has suggested the forbearance and floor prices of solar RECs at Rs 2,500 per MWh and Rs 1,000 per MWh respectively. The prices for non-solar RECs have been proposed at Rs 2,900 per MWh and Rs 1,000 per MWh. The proposed prices are significantly lower than the prevailing forbearance and floor prices of solar RECs of Rs 5,800 per MWh and Rs 3,500 per MWh respectively and that of non-solar RECs of Rs 3,300 per MWh and Rs 1,500 per MWh respectively.
