The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has decided to step in to resolve the issues plaguing Ratnagiri Gas and Power Private Limited’s (RGPPL) 1,967 MW Dabhol gas-based power project in Maharashtra. It is expected to expedite the demerger of the liquefied natural gas regasification terminal and the power project. Besides, steps will be taken to resume the power purchase agreement (PPA) between Indian Railways and RGPPL, which was facing hindrance due to pricing issues. The PMO is also planning to ask the Maharashtra government to waive transmission charges and losses, as well as certain taxes imposed on the project to increase its viability.
