CPECC (China) secures $12.7-billion contract for Amur plant in Russia

The China Petroleum Engineering and Construction Corporation (CPECC) has been awarded a contract for the $12.7 billion Amur gas processing plant (GPP) in the Amur region of Russia. The CPECC will be responsible for the construction, manufacturing and supply of equipment. The CPECC will sign an agreement with NIPIgazpererabotka, Russia’s leading centre for designing, engineering and managing the construction of oil refining and petrochemical plants, which will manage the construction of the Amur GPP. Reportedly, the project is Russia’s largest GPP, with a design capacity of 42 billion cubic metres of gas per annum. It will also have the world’s largest helium production facility with a capacity to produce up to 60 million cubic metres per annum. The construction works for the project commenced in October 2015.
