L&T commissions gas turbines totaling 430 MW in Bangladesh

Larsen & Toubro Limited has commissioned gas turbines for two large gas-based power projects in Bangladesh. The first 150 MW gas turbine was commissioned for the Bangladesh Power Development Board’s 225 MW combined cycle power plant (CCPP) at Sikalbaha in Chittagong. The second 280 MW gas turbine was commissioned for North West Power Generation Company Limited’s 360 MW CCPP at Bheramara in Kushtia. With the commissioning of these two gas turbines at their full capacity, nearly 450 MW of clean power has been added to the generation capacity of Bangladesh. The entity is also executing an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) sub-contract for a 400 MW gas based power plant at Bibiyana in Sylhet, Bangladesh. The plant is expected to be commissioned during 2018-19.
