TRANSCO CLSG to construct 225kV CLSG Interconnection Project in Liberia

The Regional Electricity Transmission Company for Cote d’Ivoire-Liberia-Sierra Leone-Guinea (TRANSCO CLSG) will soon start the construction of the 225 kV CLSG Interconnection Project in Monrovia, Liberia. The project entails the construction of 225 kV lines spanning 1,349 km across four countries. The project also includes the construction of 11 new substations (four substations in Liberia, five in Sierra Leone and two in Guinea) and the expansion of an existing substation in Cote d’Ivoire. In addition, an optical ground wire network and a supervisory control and data acquisition system, located at the Regional Control Centre in Linsan (Guinea), will be installed to facilitate the operations of the interconnection. The project is one of the five priority projects of the larger West African Power Pool programme being implemented to establish a well-functioning, cooperative, power pooling mechanism for West Africa.
