Wärtsilä and PT PP secure EPC contracts for five power plants in Indonesia

PT PLN, the Indonesian state utility, has awarded EPC contracts to a consortium of Wärtsilä and Indonesia-based construction company PT PP (Persero) Tbk for five power plants. The first order comprises four modular gas cube power plants aggregating 115 MW of capacity. These plants will be located in Ternate, Nabire, Bontang and Flores in Indonesia. The second order is for a 140 MW power plant, which will be located in Bangkanai, in Central Kalimantan on the island of Borneo. All the five power plants will have Wärtsilä’s engines that are capable of running on multiple fuels such as liquid fuels and natural gas. The four cube power plants are scheduled to be operational by late 2017 and early 2018, and the Bangkanai plant by late 2018. The contracts also include an O&M agreement for five years for services including recruitment, management and training of local workers, technical support, maintenance planning, performance monitoring and logistics management, as well as preventive and predictive maintenance to meet the local health, safety and environmental requirements.
