THDC India Limited has received environmental clearance for its 1,320 MW Khurja STPP in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. The clearance was accorded by the Expert Appraisal Committee of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. Planned at a cost of Rs 97.48 billion, the coal-based project is likely to help in meeting the demand for power in northern India. In a separate development, THDC has commissioned a 63 MW wind power project in Dwarka, Gujarat. Suzlon Energy Limited was the equipment supplier for the project. With this, THDC’s total installed capacity has increased to 1,531 MW, including a 50 MW wind power project at Patan, Gujarat.
