PLN (Indonesia) signs $1.6-billion deal with Powerphase

Indonesian state utility PLN has signed a $1.6 billion deal with US-based turbine technology firm Powerphase to execute a phased implementation programme for the Turbophase system at PLN’s existing gas-fired power plants. The initial stage will include a feasibility study and two 50 MW projects, followed by the implementation of an additional 2 GW project. Reportedly, the programme will help Indonesia save $11.6 billion over 20 years and reduce 2 million tonnes of carbon dioxide per year.
