POSCO (South Korea) secures contract for1,200 MW power plant in Vietnam

South Korea-based POSCO Energy has been awarded a contract for the development and operation of a 1,200 MW coal-fired power plant in the industrial complex in Dong Hoi of the NgheAn province in northern central Vietnam. The plant will have two 600 MW reactors and will be developed on a build, operate and transfer (BOT) basis. POSCO will sell the power produced at the plant to state-run Vietnam Electricity (EVN) for 25 years, after which the ownership will be transferred to the government. The government of NgheAn province has plans to create an industrial complex for heavy industries, which will be supplied power through the new Quynh Lap II coal-fuelled power plant.
