ABB begins work on Raigarh-Pugalur green energy corridor project

ABB has started work on the Raigarh-Pugalur green energy corridor 800 kV ultra high voltage direct current project, which would link over 1,800 km to bring power to 80 million people. This link will integrate thermal and wind energy for the transmission of power to high consumption centres located thousands of kilometres away. This link is capable of supporting electricity demands in the south, when wind strength is low, and transmitting clean energy to the north, when there is excess wind power. This Power Grid Corporation of India project, being executed by ABB in partnership with Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, is aligned with the government’s focus on renewable energy and 24×7 reliable “Power for All” programme.
