BHEL commissions second 800 MW unit of Yeramarus project in Karnataka

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has commissioned the second 800 MW unit of the 1,600 MW Yeramarus supercritical power station in Karnataka. The first unit of the coal-based project was commissioned by BHEL in March 2016. Raichur Power Corporation Limited, a joint venture (JV) between BHEL and Karnataka Power Corporation Limited, has developed this project. In a separate development, BHEL has commissioned the second 250 MW unit of Bhavnagar Energy Company Limited’s htermal power plantr (TPP) in Padva village, Gujarat. The unit is based on circulating fluidised bed combustion technology and uses lignite as the primary fuel. The first unit of this project was commissioned in May 2016.
