Adani Power files petition with CERC claiming compensatory tariff

Adani Power Limited has filed a petition with the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission claiming a compensatory tariff of about Rs 8.52 billion for its 4,620 MW Mundra coal-based power plant in Gujarat. The company has sought compensation owing to change in domestic coal distribution policies. This is following the Supreme Court’s verdict dated April 11, 2017 stating that the cost incurred due to policy change in India would be considered for compensation under the change in law. In a separate development, Adani Power has commissioned a 50 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant at Mahoba in Uttar Pradesh. The plant entailed a total cost of Rs 3.15 billion and has been set up under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission. The power from the plant will be transmitted through a 132 kV line to Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation’s Mahoba substation.
