The Maharashtra government has exempted Ratnagiri Gas and Power Private Limited from paying value added tax, central sales tax and transmission charges for the next five years starting April 1, 2017. The decision has been taken to revive the project and prevent it from becoming a non-performing asset. In addition, the power plant is exempt from paying wheeling charges as well as charges accrued on account of distribution losses such as power leakages. The project was exempted from the same levies during the period April 1, 2015 to March 31, 2017.
