NTPC planning to invest $10 billion in new coal based plants

NTPC Limited is planning to invest $10 billion in the development of new coal-based power plants over the next five years. In the first phase, the company plans to build three new plants aggregating 5 GW. The company is yet to receive the government’s approval for the same. In a separate development, NTPC’s subsidiary, Kanti Bijlee Utpadan Nigam Limited, has commissioned the second 195 MW unit of the Muzaffarpur Thermal Power Station Stage II, in Bihar. With this, the project’s capacity has reached 610 MW while NTPC’s stands ar 47,488 MW.
