ABB to build 225 kV hybrid substation in Morocco with EnergieEolienne du Maroc

ABB is planning to build a 225/33 kV hybrid substation in Morocco under a partnership with local energy group EnergieEolienne du Maroc. The substation will be installed at a wind farm owned by Moroccan firm Nareva, a subsidiary of the royal holding company SocieteNationaled’Investissement. Estimated at $16 million, the station will be the first of its kind in the African country, designed to withstand the desert climate and marine air conditions. It will be constructed in southern Morocco and will be linked to the national power grid. The facility will be equipped with middle voltage switchgear, 150 MW of power transformers, instrument transformers, surge arresters, substation automation system, and protection and control system.
