SGCC commences trial operations on 500kV transmission link between Sichuan and Chongqing grids

State-owned Chinese transmission system operator State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) has commenced trial operations on the 500 kV third power transmission link between the Sichuan and Chongqing power grids. The CNY 1.62 billion project involved the construction of a 240.8 km long transmission line with a power transfer capacity of 7 billion kWh per year. Work on the project commenced in October 2016. Meanwhile, SGCC is likely to complete the tower construction works associated with the 1,100 kV Changji-Guquan ultra high voltage direct current project by July 2017. The 3,284 km long project will link Zhundong, Chanji at Xinjiang with Guquan in Anhui. The line will cross Xinjiang, Gansu, Ningxia, Shaanxi Henan and Anhui. The CNY 40 billion project is scheduled to be commissioned in 2018.
