Essar Power MP stabilises Unit 2 of the MW Mahan power plant

Essar Power MP Limited has stabilised operations in Unit 2 of its 1,200 MW (2×600 MW) Mahan power plant in Singrauli district, Madhya Pradesh. The company has secured coal through a government-conducted e-auction for the plant. Essar Power Limited built the plant at a cost of more than Rs 80 billion. It requires about 5.5 million tonnes of domestic coal per year to generate at full load. Essar Power’s operational capacity in India stands at 3,745 MW across six coal- and gas-fired plants. In addition, the company is currently developing the 1,200 MW (2×600 MW) Tori plant in Jharkhand, and the remaining 60 MW capacity (2×30 MW units) of the 120 MW Paradip power project in Gujarat.
