PHDCCI organises conference on GST in Renewable Energy

The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) recently organised a conference on GST in Renewable Energy. Speaking at the event, Ruchin Gupta, head of GST, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, noted that tariffs for renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power are likely to fall considerably post GST (goods and services tax), with GST rates falling for many items, barring a few exceptions, that go into the making of renewable power plants owing to the provision for input credits. He added that many issues are emerging and confronting renewable energy post-GST and the department concerned is seeking their addressal. According to him, developers of renewable energy would have to take up the issue of tariff fixation with the regulator concerned and tariffs are likely to be further rationalised.
