CERC rejects proposal to introduce DAM for RECs in power exchanges

The CERC has rejected a proposal for the introduction of the day-ahead market (DAM) for renewable energy certificates (RECs) in the power exchanges. Power exchanges and renewable energy companies had sought for creation of a separate DAM as the share of unsold RECs has been increasing with states not honoring their power purchase agreements (PPAs). However, the commission stated that the market condition at present is not conducive for the same.
