CIL to reduce e-auction coal volumes by half in 2017-18

Coal India Limited (CIL) has decided to reduce its e-auction coal volumes by 50 per cent from 300 million tonnes (mt) in 2016-17 to 150 mt in 2017-18. The offer has been reduced as CIL sold only one-third of the 300 mt coal offered in the e-auction last year. The move is also expected to help in greater coal supply to power plants especially during the peak demand period.
