The Indian Wind Energy Association (IWEA) has the challenged Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission’s (TNERC) order in the Madras High Court for allowing the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Company to hold an auction for 500 MW of wind power at a new base price of Rs 3.46 per unit. TNERC had earlier passed an order determining the wind energy tariff in the state at Rs 4.16 per kWh applicable for two years starting April 1, 2016. The IWEA has requested that any new order should be passed after the expiry of the earlier order, which is valid till April 1, 2018.
