MoP considers new norms for power procurement to revive long-term PPAs

The MoP is planning to propose new norms for power procurement in order to revive the signing of long-term PPAs by discoms. The new norms would require the discoms to pay only for the power purchased while removing their contractual obligation to pay fixed cost to the genco even if no power is purchased. The move aims to revive demand for PPAs and improve offtake by discoms.
