NTPC Limited is planning to surrender its Banai and Bhalumuda captive coal blocks in Chhattisgarh. The blocks were considered economically and technically unfeasible during the exploration period. The blocks have a high stripping ratio and are facing difficulty in dumping of overburden in the surrounding coal-rich area.
