Transmission Company of Nigeria receives over $1.55 billion from multilateral donors

Nigeria’s state-owned grid developer Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has received more than $1.55 billion from several multilateral donors in order to revive stalled projects and expand its electrical grid. The company has secured this funding from the World Bank, African Development Bank, Islamic Development Bank, Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the European Union. The funds will help TCN achieve its ambition of increasing transmission capacity by 20,000 MW in the coming few years.  These funds have helped in the resuscitation of some projects that had been abandoned.
