Twenty one TPPs found to be in violation of environmental norms by CPCB

According to an assessment by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), around 21 TPPs across the country are non-compliant with the environmental norms. The projects include the Paras thermal power station (TPS) in Maharashtra, Patratu TPS in Jharkhand, Kutch Lignite TPS in Gujarat, Durgapur TPS in West Bengal, Jindal TPP in Odisha, Bhushan TPP in Odisha and Narla Tata Rao TPS in Andhra Pradesh. Based on the inspections carried out by the CPCB under the environmental surveillance squad, the pollution control systems for these plants need to be upgraded.
