Uttar Pradesh notifies draft UP Solar Power Policy

The Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency has notified the draft UP Solar Power Policy, 2017. The policy proposes to generate 10,700 MW of solar power by 2022 to meet 8 per cent of the state’s energy requirements through renewable sources. The target includes the setting up of 4,300 MW of rooftop solar projects and solar parks with a minimum capacity of 100 MW, power from which will be sold to Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL). In a separate development, UPPCL has cancelled the PPAs with six solar power plant developers owing to delay in the setting up of plants aggregating 80 MW.
