EEU Commissions feasibility study for upgradation of transmission network in 18 urban towns

The Ethiopian Electric Utility (EEU) has commissioned a feasibility study to upgrade the electricity transmission network in 18 urban towns. The project entails strengthening of medium voltage lines, rehabilitation of low voltage lines and maintenance of transformers. The EEU has already secured ETB 1.7 billion from the Ethiopian government and the World Bank’s International Development Association for executing this scheme. The project is the EEU’s fourth programme, which is aimed at reinforcing the transmission network in its operational areas, including Addis Ababa.
