Hitachi Power Systems executes first supercritical boiler in South Africa

Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems has delivered the first supercritical boiler for the 4.8 GW Kusile coal-fired power plant in South Africa. The $9.23 billion power plant is located in Witbank, Mpumalanga province, and comprises six units of 800 MW each. The plant is South Africa’s first power station to install flue gas desulphurisation systems for the elimination of oxides of sulphur.
