KERC reduces tariffs for new wind power projects to Rs 3.74 per unit

The Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) has reduced the tariffs for new wind power projects from Rs 4.50 per unit in February 2015 to Rs 3.74 per unit in its recent order. The revised tariff will be applicable for new wind projects for which PPAs were signed and approved by KERC after September 4, 2017 and will remain in force till March 31, 2018. The tenure of the PPAs has been fixed for 20 years by KERC with an option to extend it by another five years. The move has been undertaken to encourage competition in the wind segment and to provide the incentive of reduced tariffs to consumers.
