Nepal government receives $150 million loan from ADB for enhancing T&D network

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will provide a loan of $150 million to the Nepal government for implementation of the Power Transmission and Distribution Efficiency Enhancement Project. A concessional loan agreement for the project was signed between ADB and Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) in June 2017. The project work will involve the construction of six new GIS substations. In addition, the project will involve rehabilitation and capacity increase in the Kathmandu Valley; enhancement of the operational and financial performance of NEA’s distribution centres; and execution of advanced distribution efficiency projects.
