Wartsila wins a contract for supplying 12 engines for a power plant in Bangladesh

Finnish company Wartsila has won a contract to supply 12 engines for a new 220 MW baseload power plant in Bangladesh being developed by independent power producer (IPP) Desh Energy Chandpur Power Company. Wartsila will deliver 12 of its 18-cylinder 50 engines running on heavy fuel oil. Power generated from the plant will be supplied to the national grid. As the plant needs to be fully operational by May 2018, delivery of equipment is being made on a fast-track basis with the first tranche scheduled in November and the remaining one month later.
