PSPCL shuts down its oldest 640 MW Guru Nanak Dev thermal plant

Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has shut down its oldest coal-based power plant, the 640 MW Guru Nanak Dev Thermal Plant in Bhatinda, due to the plant’s inability to meet environmental and emission norms. Units 1 and 2 (110 MW each) were brought to a halt on September 27, 2017, while Units 3 and 4 (of capacity 210 MW each) of the project were already non-operational.
