Powergrid commissions second 1,500 MW pole of the Champa-Kurukshetra HVDC line

Powergrid has commissioned the second 1,500 MW pole of the Champa-Kurukshetra high voltage direct current (HVDC) line in Chhattisgarh, which will improve power supplies to the northern region. The link will connect independent power producers in Chhattisgarh and improve supplies to Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and the adjoining areas. The link consists of four poles of 1,500 MW each, of which the first pole started operations in March 2017.
