MoP to make provisions under PPAs legally binding

The Ministry of Power (MoP) is working towards making provisions under the power purchase agreements (PPAs) legally binding. This is to ensure that the discoms have PPAs to cover 100 per cent of their energy requirement. In addition, the MoP is planning to introduce penalties for delayed electricity payments and enforce statutory legal compulsion on renewable purchase obligations.
