Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has recently disconnected several power connections across the domestic, commercial and industrial consumer categories on account of payment defaults. There were around 36,166 consumers that had defaulted on payment worth Rs 180 million mainly from Pune, PimpriChinchwad and certain rural areas. In a separate development, MSEDCL is planning to implement the distribution franchisee model at Jalgaon, Aurangabad, Dhule, Latur, Thane (Kalwa-Mumbra circle) and Nagpur to curb high AT&C losses in these areas.
