Reliance Infrastructure Limited (RInfra) has secured an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for Units III and IV of 1,000 MW each of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KNPP) in Tamil Nadu. RInfra emerged as the lowest bidder with a bid of Rs 10 billion followed by BHEL and Larsen & Toubro with Rs 10.32 billion and Rs 11 billion respectively. The scope of work involves design; engineering; procurement; supply; erection; commissioning; and performance guarantee of common services systems, structures and components. This is RInfra’s first such contract in the nuclear power segment. KNPP’s Units III and IV are being developed by Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited in association with Russia-based Rosatom.
