Union government allocates additional 792MW of power from central pool to J&K

The union government has decided to allocate an additional 792 MW of power from the central pool to Jammu & Kashmir to meet the high power demand during winters. The peak demand in Jammu & Kashmir during April-October 2017 stood at 2,768 MW while the supply stood 2,214 MW. Currently, around 70 per cent of the energy requirement in the state is being met from central generating stations.
